A damaged skin barrier shows up as tightness, flaking, stinging and a complexion that reacts to everything. The barrier is the skin’s outer wall of lipids and cells, and when it is compromised, water escapes and irritants get in. Our approach to a damaged skin barrier is to replenish the lipids it has lost and support its natural recovery.
Tallow is rich in the same fatty acids found in the skin’s own sebum, including palmitic, stearic and oleic acids, so it helps replenish what a compromised barrier has lost. Squalane is a lightweight emollient almost identical to the skin’s own squalene; it reinforces the lipid layer and helps reduce the water loss that leaves the barrier struggling. Lanolin forms a breathable occlusive film that seals in moisture, while jojoba contributes a wax ester close to natural sebum.
Niacinamide supports the skin’s own production of barrier lipids for a stronger-looking surface, and centella asiatica calms the look of reactive, irritated skin while it settles. Hyaluronic acid draws water into the upper layers to keep the surface supple. Marula and prickly pear oils, both rich in omega fatty acids and antioxidants, add another layer of replenishment, helping the barrier hold onto moisture while it settles and looks less reactive over the following weeks.
While a damaged skin barrier recovers, pause strong acids and physical scrubs, and protect the skin with sunscreen each morning. Gentle, lipid-rich, ingredient-led care helps the skin look comfortable, resilient and balanced again. Every ingredient is fully disclosed so you know exactly what is supporting your skin.
