It is the question we get most, and the honest answer is that it depends on your skin. Tallow’s fatty acid profile sits unusually close to the skin’s own sebum, which is why most people find it absorbs easily rather than sitting on top.
If your skin is oily or congested, start with a small amount at night and give it a week or two to settle. If it still feels like too much, one of the lighter oil serums is a better place to begin.
Properly rendered and filtered tallow carries very little scent of its own. What you notice when you open a jar is the essential oil blend that finishes the formula, not the tallow.
Our suppliers adhere to ethical practices regarding the treatment of animals. The animals are also not slaughtered according to any religious practices.
Our tallow comes from suppliers who support regenerative, ethical farming, and all-natural agriculture without the use of any hormones, antibiotics, or pesticides. The fat itself is a by-product of beef that is already being produced, rather than the reason for it.
Every skin is different, so patch test on the inner forearm before the first full use, especially if essential oils have bothered you before. Give anything new a week or two before you judge it, and introduce one product at a time so you know what is doing what.
If something feels uncomfortable, stop and get in touch. We would far rather help you find the right product than have you push through with the wrong one.

It depends on the product, and every product page carries its own figure just under the image. As a guide, a 30ml serum or oil lasts about two to three months, a 125ml toner about six months, and the balms about six weeks.

Because most of what sits on a shelf is water. Commercial moisturisers are commonly 60 to 80 percent water, and the actives are the expensive part of any formula. Ours are used at levels that do something, rather than at levels that let us name them on the label.
The same trick runs through toners and oils. A toner can be water with a token active dropped into it, where ours are built on hydrosols. An oil can be mostly the cheapest oils on the market, and castor is the usual one. Castor has a real place in a formula and we use it ourselves in No 02 Body Melt for what it does, but it is also a cheap way to fill a bottle and make a blend look generous.
Our serums and oils are packed rather than single note. One bottle carries six or seven actives working together, so it does the job of several separate products in one step. Every product page shows how many actives are in it and how many steps it replaces, right under the image.
A bottle also lasts longer than people expect, so the cost per use is a long way below what the shelf price suggests. That figure is on the product page too.
